How To Identify Your Target Market?

Who is your target market? If your answer is -EVERYONE- then we need to do some serious narrowing down.

Who Is Your Target market?

While you may sell products that will appeal to everyone, not everyone is your ideal customer. The ideal customer of a farmer who grows crops would either be multi-national companies, wholesalers, supermarkets, market women or the direct consumers who get their produce from the market. However, his kind of customers will depend on the scale at which he produces his crops as well as the kind of crops he produces.

How To Identify Your Target Audience

It is not advisable to start a business without doing in-depth research. If you are yet to do this, you need to invest in market research. Ask yourself, what needs will my business meet? Is my business gender sensitive? Is my business perfect for a particular age group? Are they students, housewives, newlyweds, intending couples, working-class men or women? Are they educated or not? Which areas will you find them? Are they conservative or trendy? What are their interests? When you have established this, you can then proceed to identify who your ideal customer is.

First things first, put yourself in the shoes of your ideal customers and ask yourself the following;

What product do you sell or what service do you render?
At what scale do you produce this product or render this service?
Which businesses/individuals needs will your services meet and satisfy?

Being able to answer all these questions, will help you figure out how to draft your marketing message. It will also help you tailor your business to meet the needs of your target audience.

After you have done this, determine how you will get your ideal customers to learn about your business.

If your target audience are children within the ages of 0 – 17, you can target them as well as parents and caregivers. Your graphics and marketing message should appeal and connect with them on an emotional level.

If they are young adults, you will need to reach them where they spend most of their time – social media.

If they are Older people, you may need to go the way of the newspaper. Target them via the places they seek information.

How To Communicate Efficiently With Your Ideal Customers

For you to be able to achieve all of the above successfully, you need a strong online presence and a secure, trustworthy means of communication.

Social media pages are good but how do you intend to communicate with potential clients?

Please do not say Yahoo or Gmail.

Using free email services do not represent your brand in a professional light. Rather than use free email accounts, get yourself a professional email address like info@yourbusinessname.com.ng, customerservice@yourbusinessname.com and more.
These kinds of email addresses make your ideal customers trust that your business is legitimate. Other than that, it clearly advertises your business. You do not need to have a website or hosting account to get this. All you will need is a domain name and you are set.

For as low as N420/month, you can get a professional email account. Click the blue link below to get yours now.
